Abstract

‘Mit Feuer und Flamme’ - ‘Red Hot: Ceramics in Contemporary Art’, consists of work that examines ceramic from a fine art approach as curator Dr Stefanie Dathe says of the exhibition, ‘Red-Hot’ exceeds the traditional understanding of figurative and applied ceramics. It shows contemporary positions represented in plastic wall art, stand-alone sculptures, conceptual works, medial reinterpretations and large room installations. The exhibition is constructed from the work of fifteen artists who engage ceramic from varied perspectives including leading artists Ai Weiwei, Richard Deacon, Otto Piene and Thomas Schutte amongst others. Three works are included in the show that examine a conceptual approach to ceramic, the exhibition is supported by a publication, hardback 97 pages, colour, ISBN: 978-3-933614-96-4
