Abstract

A chapter in a book concerning participatory contemporary art, which reflects the strategy of including new media art in general art discourse. The chapter offers examples of new media art and theory, which are necessarily specific about who is participating in what, using network models. The chapter was invited by the editor, and peer-reviewed and edited. Anna Dezeuze is a leading author and editor, and other authors in the book include international authors in contemporary art: Claire Bishop, Miwon Kwon, Christian Kravagna, Armauld Pierre, and Judith Rodenbeck.

The book has proved popular, and has been produced in paperback. The book has been reviewed internationally, and the chapter has been particularly praised for accuracy in defining levels of participation.
