Abstract

The session focused upon The University of Sunderland’s collaboration with Northumbria Police and its Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in order to offer students the opportunity to produce films that support Northumbria Police’s work in developing awareness of complex category serious crime. Working beyond end-point assessments, the session looks at student’s engagement with employment-level professionalism, through networking with agencies on a live client brief. Twenty-three films have been made which address: the capacity to consent, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, cybercrime, modern day slavery and male rape. Approximately five hundred students have taken part in the films as actors or creators.
