Abstract

This report presents the findings of a comparative research study carried out n the North east of England and Sweden. It examines the way that structural factors and gender cultures in two different countries influence how men understand the role of fatherhood and the effect it has on their masculine identity. It discusses the impact different economic conditions, social policies and cultural expectations have on how they think and act as fathers in their everyday lives.
