Abstract
Young Glass 2017 is an international exhibition of artworks in glass by artists under 35 years of age. Held once a decade at Glasmuseet Ebeltoft and in its third iteration, the exhibition intends to survey emerging talent and uncover new tendencies in artwork using the medium. The author participated as a member of the jury to select the artworks and prizewinners, and an essay was included in the associate publication.
What the artworks in this exhibition demonstrate are reflections on the state of our society, an awareness of broader dialogues in creative practice, a reverence for (and questioning of) craft traditions, and an on-going search for the perfect moment through art making. Artworks incorporating video and performance were included for the first time in this edition.
