In: The Second Digital Learning and Teaching Conference,, June 2022, University of Sunderland, UK.

Item Type: Conference or Workshop Item (Paper)

Abstract

In this paper, on first part we have shared some academic opinions and backgrounds on why using more interactive and engaging activities in classrooms can improve the quality of student experiences in their learning process. Moving to the digital era has encouraged many academicians to start experiencing the traditional tools for teaching and learning in a digitalized format and more innovative ways which adds some new benefits to the previous learning experiences.
The second part of this paper is on explaining how we converted a short formative multiple-choice question quiz to an engaging teamwork activity, namely an escape room. This digital approach is used in our “Global Strategy and Foresight” module for master of “International Business Management” students at university of Sunderland, UK. On this section of the paper, we have explained how we designed this activity using Genial.ly software and how it works in a classroom context. This section can easily be used by other academicians to design a similar activity for their class activities.
We have not stopped on this stage of sharing our experience in using this innovative digital approach for MCQ quizzes, therefore on the third part of this paper, we have shared some evidences of the student experiences after this activity, as this section is delivering first-hand information and direct experience of students about their first encounter with this new quiz type, it adds a lot to our understanding about applicability and feasibility of using this digital technique in other classes and other field of studies.
