Abstract
Group show together with Markus Amm and Joachim Grommek
The works of Markus Amm, Lothar Götz and Joachim Grommek make it clear once more that the methods and artistic techniques today link up at various points with the discourse concerning abstraction. With their tra- ditional references, and the considered approach to the history of painting and more generally to the ‘modernist project’4 they manifest the current relevance of abstraction as a painterly form of depiction and quality of awareness. At the same time, in the sense of Albers’s ‘actual fact’ and ‘fac- tual fact’, they show that realism and abstraction condition each other, rather than being mutually exclusive, as is still often assumed.
