Abstract
On Monday 11th November 2013, the Shaw Gallery at Trinity School hosted an interactive event of Art and Jazz. The ensuing Art Jazzed Up exhibition explores how creative people react to and interpret music. The inspirational results brought the ephemeral nature of sound back into the physical realm.
Under the direction of Alban Low, some 80 artists of all ages from England, Wales, Scotland, Serbia, USA, Portugal, Germany, Austria, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Ukraine, Bulgaria and, of course, the Trinity community, participated. They created works in response to jazz pieces composed by internationally-renowned musicians, Bill Mudge, Mike DiRubbo, Duncan Eagles, Max Luthert and Peter Ibbetson. Alan Carlyon Smith curated the exhibition in the Shaw gallery; it was filmed by jazz filmmakers Dan Redding and Steve Pringle and recorded by sound engineer Dick Pugh.
