Abstract
Intimations of transcendence underpin John Kefala Kerr’s site-responsive meditation on sound, language and the quotidian. Drawing on the presupposition of aural acuity implied by the BEASTdome system, JKK combines accounts of his experience of hearing impairment with audio extracts from his sound work for ecclesiastical spaces and readings from his ‘musical fiction’, Thimio’s House (Perfect Edge 2013). In doing so he reflects on the role the audible (real, unreal and imaginary) plays in narrating the everyday.
