James is a Lecturer in Tourism and the programme leader for BSc International Tourism and Hospitality Management and FdA Travel and Tourism. After graduating from the University of Sunderland with a Masters in Cultural Tourism Development, James took the position of Academic Tutor and Research Assistant for Tourism. James is currently writing up his PhD titled, Backpacker Mobility: Train Travel in Central and Eastern Europe. His doctoral research examines the spaces of transportation and the experiences of travelling off the beaten track in Europe. James has presented his research at International conferences in USA, India and Rotterdam and has published in academic books and conference proceedings.
