Laura joined the University of Sunderland in October 2023 as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing. Her previous role was Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Leeds, where she also held roles within the School of Medicine as Director of the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences and latterly as Director of the Leeds Institute of Medical Education and Chair of the School of Medicine Executive. Laura is a Professor of Public Health and Education Innovation, with expertise in education, leadership, and innovation in health management. She is committed to supporting the development of individuals and teams. Her professional interest is in population health and well-being, from community activism in the voluntary sector through to education and research, policy and strategy. Laura has held a number of roles as an independent chair or expert invitee in the health and not-for-profit sector. She is returning as Associate Non-Executive Director on Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust Board, for which she is Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee and Maternity Board Safety Champion, having previously been the nominated University of Leeds Non-Executive Director.
