Biography:
Helen McGhie is a photographer, researcher and Senior Lecturer in Photography at the Northern Centre of Photography, University of Sunderland. Funded by the National Productivity Investment Fund (AHRC), she will submit her practice-based PhD in 2024 (University of Sunderland), undertaken in partnership with Kielder Observatory, in Northumberland IDSP (UK). This contributes a model for how a creative practitioner and an astronomy organisation can develop work with mutual benefits. She previously studied photography at the Royal College of Art (2012-2024) and has since exhibited nationally and internationally, and contributed to publications including ‘Madam and Eve: Women Portraying Women’, Laurence King (2018).
