Abstract
People Not Profit was a free solo exhibition held at Pop Recs, Sunderland, bringing together selected works from Churchill's ongoing bodies of practice including Watchful Waiting, NHS Darkroom, the Pandemic series, and documentary images of the Nurse NHS Strike. Presented against the backdrop of sustained NHS industrial action and the 75th anniversary of the NHS, the exhibition positioned photography as a form of solidarity and public testimony. The show proved sufficiently popular to have its run extended, and included a collaboration with musician Ross Millard of The Futureheads on screenprinted editions, and a paste-up workshop with Michael Daglish and Stephen Turner, with all proceeds donated to Keep Our NHS Public North East.
