Abstract

Churchill's portrait Melanie, March 2020 was selected as the cover image for the Wellcome Global Monitor 2020: Covid-19, a major international research report published by Wellcome in November 2021. The report, produced in partnership with Gallup, surveyed more than 119,000 members of the public across 113 countries and territories on the impact of the pandemic on their lives and their views about science. The image was credited to Churchill with a direct quote on p2.

Cover image: Melanie, March 2020 Johannah Churchill I am a nurse as well as a photographer. I took this portrait of my colleague Melanie back at the start of the pandemic as she was making preparations for the opening of a local Covid clinic. It is taken in Wandsworth where we both worked together.
