Abstract

Melanie, March 2020 was included in Hold Still: Capturing the Spirit of a Nation Under Lockdown, part of the National Portrait Gallery's reopening programme following its major redevelopment. The exhibition brought together the 100 photographs selected for the Hold Still project, the community portrait initiative spearheaded by the then Duchess of Cambridge in 2020, which received over 31,000 submissions. Churchill's image was among the most prominent works in the project, having been reproduced as a large-scale mural in Manchester's Northern Quarter and featured on the cover of the accompanying publication.
