Abstract
In October 2020, Churchill's portrait Melanie, March 2020 was recreated as a large-scale hand-painted mural in Manchester's Northern Quarter as part of the Hold Still community exhibition, supported by the National Portrait Gallery and Co-op UK. The mural brought the Hold Still project to the streets of the UK and attracted widespread national and international media attention, with front page coverage in the Guardian and the Financial Times. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a timelapse video of the mural being painted on the Kensington Palace Instagram account, describing it as representing "the support for the NHS community."
