When 03:50
1. 'When' Between getting in and bedtime those heavy eyes are your sign to keep busy, being you, to keep up and have the will to plough on, and cut through there's nothing more you can do, you can do (you can do) Between midnight and dawn those howling winds hit home on your soul, your mind, none of us can rewind you plough on, it's your cue to be there, be kind, it's his time, we stand in line It's a matter of when, because it matters now nothing more to fend, please take your bow (take your bow) Between working and hurting those teary eyes are sinking don't hide it, it's you, keep moving and proving that love is all healing hope never stands still, stand still, (sometimes you will)

2. 'Right Side of Wrong' I was minding my own business, walking along when I bumped into the right side of wrong I was running for home, through the Friday night throng when I bumped into the right side of wrong. I was listening to, the iron chimes of my heart calling me to go, back to the start I was lost in my own world, cruising along remembering to stay on the right side of wrong The devil he came, with his nebulous song he told me to play with the right side of wrong I said I would change, stuck in mid flight and steer away from the wrong side of night I tried to decide, it was taking so long should I stay on the line, or on the right side of wrong? The world can wait, on the right side of night (the night) It's just a flicker of light, in the wrong side of night (the night) I was minding my own business, walking along you crossed you line, into your right side of wrong don't run from your mama, it's here you belong stay and I'll teach you, the right side of wrong

3. 'Ain't The Way I Work' Most nights it seems, we argue over things the things I care about, and the things you moan about (moan about) All of my reasons, against yours, what they mean to me and you never eye to eye, so we're both completely screwed, I'm through, (I'm through) I'm on one side of the valley, with what I say and feel you're at the other side, and down you slide, trying to be healed this ain't the way I work Most nights it seems, we go to the extremes It's only because I care, I think ahead, please don't stare, (don't stare) you are an impatient neurotic, how any tollerates this? Your life is such a rule book, with all the attention, spliffs and drink, just think I'm one side of the valley, with what I say and feel you're at the other side, and down you slide, trying to be healed this ain't the way I work (x2)

Blurry Lines 03:01
4. 'Blurry lines' Control the beast, before I let it control my heart, don't fall apart you're somehow clouded, it's hard to see the mist hangs low, round you and me Control ourselves, and our desires the tide's come in, and out out a fire will always dream and make the most of what we have, down this path We crossed that bridge, and fell a few times I ran, sometimes hid, from all the warning signs Let's sort it out, what's this about? Let's make it right, don't live in doubt you're somehow clouded, I can't really see the mist is lifting, as you sit with me We crossed that bridge, and fell a few times I ran, sometimes hid, from all the warning signs we've crossed that bridge, say you'll be mine face up to the fears, of these blurry lines (blurry lines) Control the beast, before I let it control my heart, don't fall apart

5. 'Colourful Open Souls' Colourful open souls will always grow colourful lives will always shine colourful wrecks have bleeding souls they lie there wounded, they lie there low Open lost souls tell you how they feel open wide mouths are in awe and real open fuelled views go beyond the frame past the horizon, never the same, with no shame Worried souls, are found in all directions worried souls, learn from their lessons worried souls, may worry way too much their open souls, are always in touch Colourful open souls will always grow colourful lives will always shine colourful wrecks have bleeding souls they lie there wounded, they lie there low they lie there wounded, do you really know? Never assume, what you think they are going through there's more beyond those roots, so true, so true, so true Colourful open souls will always grow, etc.

6. 'Turn on Each Other' Seated in, all this anguish and fear are two souls, turning on each other seated in, this suffering and tears are two souls, who don't love, are two souls, not loving enough Seated in, this suffering and pain are two souls, reinventing the game seated in, all this pride and worry are two souls, moving along, are two souls, moving alone I sit in real rooms, with real friends we've all got real problems, real stories to amend I sit with you, we're stifled and trapped tensions, reinvention, we over-react Routed in, all this anger and hope are two souls, walking a tightrope routed in, these days that lay ahead are two souls, living in dread, are two souls, feeling dead I sit in real rooms, with real friends we've all got real problems, real stories to amend I sit with you, we're stifled and trapped tensions, reinvention, we over-react I sit with you, we're stifled and trapped tensions, reinvention, we over-react, we over-react we over-react

7. 'Anything and Nothing' You had your head on his shoulder, but you seemed to look my way what we had (what we had) is now over I'm now rocking astray We were sinking a few little stories, the evening's become a haze contemplating cosmic solutions, It's all become a daze Feeling anything and nothing, it's all counts and it don't what will I do with my time left, will you ever take note? I was wrapped up in confusion, climbing over that hill I became part of some illusion, my mind went still Feeling anything and nothing, it all counts and it don't what will I do with my time left, will you ever take note? (x2) Your eyes were fixed on mine, you had a little too many I'm hung on some other crime, things are going pretty steady Feeling anything and nothing, it all counts and it don't what will I do with my time left, will you ever take note? (x2)

To Tow Time 05:03
8. 'To Tow Time' The evening shines into your room, you said goodbye and way too soon towing time right back around, to a place, a moment at peace, no sound the evening shines along your trail, lighting a way you never fail towing time to fit some plan, the hour glass mocks those grains of sand to tow time back around, no never again, (ever again) to tow time back... the evening shines into your lives, you say hello to positive signs towing time to here and now, follow it through honour that vow the evening shines into our room, opportunities unfold and way too soon to hold time ransom, and to the hour time owes you something, it has the power to tow time back around, no never again, (ever again) to tow time back around, no never again, (ever again) to tow time back... Climb that tower, as far as it goes everything to play for, only you will know those flowers don't have to die away allow yourselves to grow, memories stay (memories stay) The evening brightens mirky walls, a sign to paint over painful calls towing time right back around, to guide each other to steady ground, (to steady ground) To tow time back around, no never again, (ever again – x3) to tow time back around...

Freeze 04:50
9. 'Freeze' That very moment, when we grew up I was sitting by your bedside, embracing this love within those seconds, everything had changed we smiled, we cried, lost for words, now we rearrange Freeze frame in my mind, to hold you, you have my time freeze frame, it'll all be fine, I am here now Within that moment, when I heard your cry nothing else mattered in my world, that very night safe, sound and alive, we will survive, I'll always be there for you, down the line (down the line) Freeze frame in my mind, to hold you, you have my time freeze frame, it'll all be fine, I am here now (x2) The isolation, the fears, we had the separation, the tears, they elapse, (oh) Freeze frame in my mind, to hold you, you have my time freeze frame, it'll all be fine, I am here now (x2)
10.
One Day 04:21
10. 'One Day' You cry for your mother, as she's by his side one day I will tell you, I'll be honest, confide but for now, I'm here, I'll protect you from the night embracing all you are, I'll always shine a light (shine a light) You hope for her return, right now, she's at his side can't tell you how he's feeling, too much pain behind those eyes here and now we play, consumed by distractions what else can I say, about this course of action? (this action)? Give me one day, and I'll try to explain that this is how it is, nothing stays the same (stays the same) A false sense of security, asking questions with his eyes someone still lies in there, that is no surprise can't understand this reality, cannot move at all cannot fight this tragedy, we can't take this any more, (any more) Give me one day, and I'll try to explain that this is how it is, nothing stays the same (x2) Give me one day, and I'll try to explain (to explain)

11. 'Keeping it Together' Keeping it together before it breaks at the seams something always gives, we need room to breathe taking a step back, from the outside looking in at the monster I've become, why did this, ever begin? Why did this, ever begin? Keeping it together, for the sake of seeing it through gripping to the edge, I can barely see you taking a step back, to see where we've climbed between a rock and a hard place, barely moving from this line barely moving in time Trying to keep our line of sight last one get the lights, get the lights... Taking a step back, to see which bricks have fallen we're nearly over this wall, from the outside you're calling... you're calling, you're calling, you're calling, you're calling you're calling...

about

'last one get the lights' is a stylistically diverse 11-track album created during lockdown 2.0 by the Nick Gladdish Band.
Ranging from the mellow sparsity of Nick's piano/vocal serenades to full band performances which incorporate elements of blues and progressive rock. The album deals with themes of birth, loss and the varying degrees of confusion within contempory relationships and the struggles of life.
Committed to the old school method, Nick arranged a two-day recording session in which the fundamentals of each track were recorded live, on the studio floor. Everything was recorded 'off grid' to allow the flow of each musician to blend naturally.
'we went for the organic approach to recording to capture something honest and genuine' NG
The album release is due to be marked with the NG Band's return to the Cluny 2 in Ouseburn, Newcastle on Sunday 12th September 2021.
We have the fantastic Jenny Lascelles and the excellent bluesy stylings of '45 Spread' supporting us!

Special thanks to my fantastic and talented band for giving up their time to learn, rehearse and record these songs with me. It's been one of my best ever creative projects. Focused and effortless.

Cheers to James Berry ('Torn Apart TV') for giving up his time to to talk with the band, and film some of the prcoess at Traxx Studios.

A very special shoutout to all of my close family and firends who have continued to support me over the past twenty five years of creating music. I dedicate this album to my late Father in Law, Peter Willox. RIP. We miss you so much! x
