More Information
Additional Information: This was an exhibition on the theme of Tracing the Invisible and part of the international conference of Stories of Art and Science at the University of Porto, Portugal. My contribution was a 'collection' of 7 sculptures produced as part of a residency at the Museum of Steel sculpture, Ironbridge UK in 2009. The exhibition was a key dissemination point of a period of fine art practice research; extending previous work based on landscape. The research addressed new approaches in the engagement with landscape through mapping and ¿sense of place¿ themes through an innovative use of approaches, materials and technologies in fine art practice. A new direction was taken in the way personal journeys by foot were mapped from satellite images providing information for templates cut by computer aided design and manufacture. The process using wooden patterns and a bonded sand casting process was developed through a number of small-scale sculptures documented in the portfolio. A key development in the work was the exhibition of the work as 'collections' of personal journeys. Dissemination was via the work itself exhibited in: University of Porto 2009 University of Sunderland RIT exhibition 2009 [selected] ICA Gallery London.2010 [selected] University of Northumbria Gallery 2009 [selected] The Project was supported by: Museum of Steel sculpture, Ironbridge UK Henry Moore Foundation Portfolio of work comprises; Images of the 7 cast iron sculptures together with models and Drawings. |
