Abstract
In 2006, the photographer Anton Corbijn directed his first feature film "Control" about the life and death of singer Ian Curtis of Joy Division . Even his second film "The American " with George Cloony in the lead role catapulted him to the forefront of world filmmakers. It is still true his love of photography and that is to see his films . His stylistic aesthetics , which manifests itself in the subtle nuances of his black and white tones , the coarse grain of the film, the peculiar use of natural light , and the fantastically secure feeling for the right hundredth of a second , the right moment , has made him one of the most important contemporary portrait photographers.
Reach him not only famous Portraits of Miles Davis, Johnny Cash, David Bowie and Tom Waits, some of which can be seen in the exhibition , but also difficult to adopt on personalities such as Lucien Freud , Gerhard Richter, Anselm Kiefer and others.
This is the melancholic - psychological view , the Anton Corbijn on the world throws never baring or hurtful , but always characterized by a warm-hearted knowledge of our world and time.
His photographic work has been shown in many internationally renowned institutions , including Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Museum of Fine Arts Vienna, Castello di Rivoli Turin, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam , just to name a few.
The subtle balancing at the boundaries and transitions of artistic media and categories pervades the entire work of Ralf Brög . The photographs from the series of ZERO rpm records shown here, we mean at first glance to see photographic record from records that oscillate between graphics and object photography.
In fact, it is extremely high-resolution scans of records that are processed analog and digital, and is where to lose their three-dimensional object quality . Weightless kick us the works in this series meet . Loud and clear , precise manner but they reach an elevation into the Mysterious . What we see is a strictly artificial , graphic object , memory-lane in its familiarity to us . The title of the photo , for example, Purple Rain or radioactivity are names of famous albums of pop music , and therefore part of our common history that hovers in the consideration of their unreal doppelganger with the room.
Two different approaches, which operate in different ways as the medium of photography and a connecting idea which designs the musical memory as a projection on which analysis can reflect as well as emotion.
