Biography:
I am an academic tutor at the University of Sunderland, specialising in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Since 2022, I have been teaching pre-sessional & in-sessional EAP courses, drawing on over 15 years of experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English as a Second Language (ESL). My passion lies in supporting international students to enhance their academic English skills through diverse teaching approaches and techniques. Beyond my university role, I collaborate with local ESOL providers by conducting teacher training workshops and creating literacy materials for low-literate learners at pre-entry level. I have also served as a part-time module leader at Huaqiao University in China, delivering online modules in Public Speaking and Business Writing. Dedicated to student success, I am committed to offering guidance, support, and motivation to help learners achieve their academic goals. My research interests include marginalised and excluded groups in education, fair assessment practices, ESOL provision, and literacy education for adult second-language learners (LESLLA).
