Abstract
The work draws from the Ordered Universe collaboration with Durham and Oxford Universities and specifically in their modern interpretation of Bishop Grossesteses De Colore treatise where in the 13th century a revolutionary idea of colour space was presented by Grosseteste. The paradigm of proto colour theory the time, of the Aristotelian linear spectrum from white to black with all the colours possible on a one dimensional axis but grossetestes treatise requires three axis to describe his colour space. the work interpreted the thinking by presenting a series of 16 glass coloured forms writhing within a defined cube form or 2.8 m high. the colours of each part mapped to the modern RGB and CMY colour spaces and Concurentes, (they run together) suggested a blend from one of the corners of the colour cube to another, red to yellow for example. each part to be suspended accurately needed to be scanned and plotted in 3d software so that accurate armature and suspension could be designed. The work alludes to the analytical and mechanical attitude needed to try and define and evaluate something as internally experienced as colour.
