Abstract
A report on the work of the Northern Television Studies Research Group (NTVRG), which was founded in 2008 to provide a forum for discussion for members from a variety of backgrounds and institutions across the north of England who are primarily concerned with television. Linked initially by geography, members of the NTVRG are involved in a series of diverse research projects and approaches. Here, two members of the NTVRG—Amy Holdsworth of the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and Barbara Sadler of the University of Lincoln, England—explore a recurring series of questions that have been raised by the group regarding the end of regional television and its impact upon “northern” television cultures.
