Abstract
A series of podcasts and events exploring deeper adaptations to contemporary social, economic and environmental crises, focusing on what can be done in the Newcastle and Gateshead region.
Commissioned by The Newbridge Project, Shift and Signal is a response to the Deep Adaptation Agenda by Dr Alex Lockwood, a journalist, writer, activist and scholar who's been working in areas of climate change, development praxis and critical animal studies since 2001. The project is an attempt to SHIFT us beyond stuck conversations about how we implement change, with a focus on identity psychology and obstacles to change under the threat of crisis, and then to SIGNAL towards responses and better ways of living that are already appearing.
The term 'Shift and Signal' is taken from the Food Citizenship Report produced by The New Citizenship Project
