Abstract
This paper takes a critical look as the global failing in reducing the number of food safety contaminations. As evidenced in the fifth global pandemic since 1918, we simply do not learn from past failings. In the 21st century we still have over 6 million cases of food poisoning on a global scale and a subsequent 450,000 deaths as year. This paper takes a critical look at the failings in the food sector and provides presents the enlighten food safety culture model to help reduce the rate of food contaminations and increase the profitability of food manufactures operations.
