Abstract
This chapter has been structured to give an overview of the disaster-induced public health challenges. It has investigated the factors associated with panic buying and has explored possible strategic planning within the healthcare system that may positively impact on it. Health informatic methods and digital communication were reviewed, as well as raising awareness and effective communication. The use of a healthcare emergency fund as one of the important strategic decisions, as well as disaster stewardship, has been investigated. The role of the health sector in a multidisciplinary setting, as well as the role of local and national governments in disaster management, was discussed. The chapter looked into possible relevant measures that can control panic buying behaviours.
