Abstract
Migration has been an integral part of society since the earliest days of civilisation. Although globally the majority (96.4%) of people still live in the country in which they were born, and only one in 30 people are migrants (3.6%) (IOM 2022a), an ever increasing number of people are on the move, and migration has steadily increased in the last five decades.
This chapter reviews global migration, discusses health inequalities for migrants and offers a critical comparison of health and social care policies in OECD countries.
