Abstract
There are 400,000 food poisoning deaths per year and such failures as not confined to emerging and developing economies but also within advanced economies. Sadly, despite international food quality accredited standards, there are repeated breaches as evidenced in the food and beverages sector worth £28bn to the UK economy. The impact of the global pandemic has left a detrimental footprint within the tourism sector in terms a potential 100 million job losses coupled with the food poisoning, and is fuelling increased concern about food-borne illness on holiday destinations and affects tourist travel branding. This paper takes a critical look at the causes and solutions in the fight against food contaminations within the tourism sector.
