Abstract
This article is a positioning paper which draws attention to an underexplored aspect of event management: accessibility and inclusion at live music events held in sports stadia. Whilst exploring non-sporting events in sports stadia is not a new phenomenon, there are several benefits and challenges to accommodating eventgoers with accessible requirements. We begin by outlining the concept of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the United Kingdom (UK), before providing some historical context regarding UK sports stadia and how they have advanced to become multi-purpose facilities in the twenty-first century. We then explain the nexus of social inclusion and sports events, via the aspect of PWDs and how they are supported within the live event space at a sports stadium in the UK. The paper finishes by providing a rationale for why exploring PWDs in sports stadia hosting live music events is important and encourages more research in this area.
