Abstract
This is a commentary on an unpublished memoir by the calligrapher Margaret Alexander (1902-1997) edited and annotated by Ewan Clayton, drawn from from the papers of Heather Child deposited at Ditchling Museum of Art+Craft. Alexander's text was written following Johnston’s death in 1944.
