Abstract

In 2015 James Maskrey started to make a new body of work to celebrate local hero Harry Watts. Harry began work at the Garrison Pottery in Sunderland, before going to sea at age 14. In 1861, at 33, he signed up as a diver with the River Wear Commissioners, a role in which he remained until 1895.
