Abstract

Between 2008 and 2012 Robert Winter delivered numerous workshops in India and Peru. These covered technical and skills development, advancing the practice and production of potteries.
However, the main goal of the workshop residencies has always been to increase the sales of the pottery by bringing a more modern design-led ethos to the product range.
Due to the success of the various workshops the Universty of Sunderland now has a strong working relationship with various fairtrade groups and Traidcraft Ltd. In 2011, Traidcraft became a summer student internship host and in 2012 Robert Winter mentored two second year glass and ceramic students while they spent four weeks internship at Traidcraft. The internship focused on design and product development for a producer in Vietnam. Robert and the students visited vietnam in August 2012 and delivered a two week workshop at the Giang Nhung Pottery in Bhat Trang.
