Biography:
From 1980-2006 Andy worked at Redcar FE College, initially as an English and Communications teacher. Since 1986 Andy has developed a working appreciation of classroom-based Action Research as a valuable professional development experience for teachers who can improve their practice whilst gaining accreditation towards Masters level qualifications. In 1989 he gained a Masters in Educational Development at Newcastle Polytechnic, followed by a PhD from the University of East Anglia. He has been engaged in Action Research-based teacher education since 1991, and this continued when he joined the University of Sunderland in 2006.
