Abstract
This chapter explores some of the ways in which the concept of “political correctness” can be challenged and, indeed, dismissed. It focuses particularly on the way in which UN HeForShe campaigner Emma Watson has been attacked for her stance. As the chapter suggests, we can employ linguistic analysis to better understand how gender equality messages are being dismissed.
