Abstract
Perfection of Understanding brings together a group of UK based ceramic artists with Chinese and Hong Kong sound artists.
Originally conceived as a physical residency at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, China, its eventual manifestation takes the form of a remote commission uniting the artists through re-imaging Jingdezhen, the renowned capital of porcelain, now rendered innaccessible by a pandemic.
The artwork Intangible, is a series of drawings in porcelain slip, which, put together, form a composite image of materiality. This work reflects the absence of both place and making. The work is significant in terms of ongoing conceptual approaches to making and interpretation of ceramic.
