Abstract

This online event will share research findings and co-created resources from an ESRC funded research project- Developing and sharing best practice to support victims of gender-based violence with learning disabilities and/or autism. The online event showcases co-created visual resources developed with the Us Too group- a group of women with learning disabilities and/or autism who have experienced sexual or domestic violence.
This event will showcase co-created visual resources. These include:
· Resources that explore ‘good’ and ‘bad’ relationships.
· Resources aimed at police officers/ criminal justice agencies and practitioners with the aim of developing inclusive criminal justice responses.
· Resources highlighting the importance of accessible communication by criminal justice agencies.

The event is sponsored by the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences.

In the participatory research project Developing and sharing best practice to support victims of gender-based violence with learning disabilities and/or autism, co-researchers- academics, women with lived experience and Open Clasp Theatre Company- have co-created a film (Us Too: Alisha’s Story); a theatre-based training course (delivered to police officers and practitioners in Durham); and a series of visual resources. This event showcases co-created visual resources.

The project was developed by Alison Jobe (Durham University) with Helen Williams (University of Sunderland) and the Us Too group, who are supported by Association for Real Change (ARC- England).
