Abstract
Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) undertake a post-qualifying year, called the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). This conference paper presents findings from a small-scale survey with NQSWs about their experiences of the ASYE. The survey was completed as part of a Facilitated Practice Research cohort, a research project co-produced with social work practitioners. NQSWs reported positive experiences with support, protected caseloads and ASYE Academies, where a cohort of NQSWs work together. They reported negative experiences when caseloads were not protected, supervision was case-management-focused, and from the burden of paperwork associated with the ASYE.
