Abstract
Using Trauma Informed Approaches within teaching, learning and assessment has helped to support decolonial thought within higher education. Whilst psychological trauma can occur to anyone at any time it is important to consider the different aspects of trauma and how they may affect students and staff differently. Within this session we will focus on strategies to support the diversity of students and consider trauma informed pedagogical practice.
By becoming more cognisant of local, national and international affairs means we can be better prepared to listen to students whether in a Personal Academic Tutor role, as a session deliverer or as a module leader. When discussing contemporary issues how often do we consider how this may affect our students and the way they engage with sessions. Whether you have these considerations or not this is an opportunity for us to reflect on what we have done, what we are doing and what we can do to better support our students.
