Abstract
Purpose- This study investigates the role of digital technology (DT) in empowering women entrepreneurs in emerging markets, with a specific focus on Iran's social and cultural context. The research aims to explore the intersection of digital technology, gender, and environmental sustainability.
Design/methodology/approach- Using advanced analytical methods such as MACTOR and MICMAC, the research examines how digital tools, including crowdfunding, social media, and big data analytics, help women entrepreneurs overcome structural and cultural barriers, providing access to global markets and financial resources.
Findings- The findings reveal that digital tools significantly empower women entrepreneurs by enabling them to overcome barriers and access global opportunities. The study integrates three key dimensions— technology, gender, and sustainability—offering a holistic perspective. It also highlights the importance of adapting digital strategies to local cultural and social realities, showcasing the unique challenges and
opportunities within Iran's context.
Originality/value- This research offers actionable recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to create a more inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. It contributes to existing literature by providing a novel perspective on the intersection of digital technology, gender, and sustainability in Iran.
