Abstract
A review of four papers presenting seminal ideas and approaches towards theories concerning design and design education were first published in the 1970s and 1980s by leading researchers in the field - namely Bruce Archer (1922-2005), Ken Baynes and Phil Roberts. These were brought together with the aid of an introductory and final paper written by Baynes and Roberts in 2005. My review discusses the contents of each paper and concludes by indicating tge importance of revisiting the underlying philosophy and concepts so thoroughly dealt with in the papers suggesting that by doing so we may get to the heart of the problems now being faced in Design and Technology today.
