Abstract
What does the future of fashion look like? Do we need to develop the notion of “low impact” clothes to prepare for a future where people are unable or unwilling to use unsustainable methods just to provide “fast fashion” which puts the accent on branding over sustainability or durability? For my research I would like to explore the possibilities of local sourcing and manufacturing, to reduce the carbon footprint, to reinstate the values of naturally sourced fabrics and to reinvigorate communities; to examine how viable locally produced fashion could be.
