Abstract
This unit explores pedagogy as the language that helps us think and talk about teaching and learning. Pedagogy is not just what we see happening in classrooms, but includes the theories, values and justifications behind teaching decisions. The unit highlights three main learning theories (behaviourism, cognitivism, and constructivism) that can shape how teachers design learning experiences, showing how these can work together depending on what's being taught and to whom. Teachers develop a toolkit of pedagogic strategies that help turn theory into effective classroom practice, and this unit emphasises how important social interactions and the teacher's own presence also are in the learning process. Through hands-on tasks and reflection activities, readers are encouraged to build their confidence in choosing approaches that work well in their specific context, balancing curriculum requirements with rich learning experiences.
