Abstract
Objectives
To co-develop a regional strategy for Interprofessional Education across Northern England, fostering a collaborative learning environment that enhances workforce readiness, aligns with NHS priorities, and improves health outcomes.
Methodology
A multi-institutional consultation event was held involving universities and healthcare stakeholders. The strategy was structured around five foundational pillars: regional collaboration, leadership and governance, faculty development, research and evaluation, and quality assurance. Discussions focused on embedding IPE into curricula, aligning with professional standards, and leveraging shared resources.
Findings
Participants identified key benefits of regional alignment, including enhanced student exposure to diverse professions, shared innovation, and improved consistency in IPE delivery. Challenges such as differing academic calendars and resource constraints were acknowledged. A shared vision and mission were established, emphasising a Northern IPE Community of Practice.
Implications
The strategy supports a unified, sustainable approach to IPE that enhances collaborative practice, addresses workforce needs, and fosters innovation in health and social care education across the region.
