Abstract
This report presents quantitative findings from the evaluation of the Back in Control 2 project, which supports adults affected by modern slavery and labour exploitation in Sunderland. Using monitoring data and client surveys collected between 2022 and 2025, the analysis examines changes in wellbeing, stability, independence and engagement with support services. Results show improvements in feelings of safety, knowledge of legal employment routes and the ability to seek help, with further gains at 13 to 24 months in financial and housing stability and English language skills. Wellbeing scores also increased modestly, particularly in autonomy and perceived usefulness. Although limited by data attrition and small sample sizes, the findings indicate that the holistic support model contributes to improved outcomes for survivors and provides evidence to inform future service development and policy.
