Abstract
This report presents the findings of the 2025 annual evaluation of the Northumbria Local Appropriate Adult Scheme (NLAAS), a service established to safeguard the rights and welfare of vulnerable adults and young people detained by police authorities across Northumbria. Over the course of the evaluation period, the Scheme continued to prioritise person‑centred practice, timely engagement, and effective multi‑agency collaboration. Key performance metrics—including referral volume, response times, and service user outcomes indicate that the Scheme maintained high levels of accessibility and responsiveness despite increasing demand and operational pressures.
