Press Release – Cooperation Ralf Brög/Suzusan (Hiroyuki Murasi)

Ralf Brög’s works blur the boundaries between the genres of painting, drawing, sculpture and architecture. They are both exhibited objects and exhibitions in their own right. In his current exhibition ‚Kurven Eier Blasen‘ at the Petra Rinck Gallery, Brög presents works that introduce new series whilst simultaneously revealing clear links to his earlier works.
Suzusan’s roots lie in Arimatsu, Japan, where the Murase family has been refining fabrics using the traditional shibori technique for over 100 years, now in its fifth generation.
Driven by passion and a commitment to perfection, they regard the Shibori technique as their cultural heritage, which they see as a duty. To halt the decline of the Shibori craft, which has been ongoing for five decades, they are striving to give the craft new relevance in the present day by developing new, innovative processes and creating modern works.
Brög’s interest in collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches will be reflected during the festival in a collaborative project with Hiroyuki Murase, which will be presented during the festival in the exhibition spaces of the Petra Rinck Gallery and within the context of his current exhibition ‘Kurven Eier Blasen’.

Press Release – Strike a Pose-Festival

PROJECT DESCRIPTION/STRIKE A POSE/ is a new kind of interdisciplinary fashion and art festival specifically for the cultural region of North Rhine-Westphalia, which – in a format that is unique to date – aims to bring together and explore creative perspectives at the intersections between fashion, art and lifestyle. The festival will celebrate its premiere, from 23 to 25 July 2021 at various venues in Düsseldorf.
/STRIKE A POSE/ will essentially consist of three different modules, each featuring a range of events: a Fashion Day with a curated fashion show showcasing sustainable labels, a collaboration between up-and-coming designers and galleries in Düsseldorf and Cologne, and a symposium where fashion, photography, music and art professionals will come together to discuss industry-specific challenges such as slow fashion, sustainability, access to new markets in the wake of digitalisation, and new social media processes.

Module 3
The [DESIGNMEETSART] module aims to foster a unique collaboration between selected art galleries and designers. From the portfolios of ten galleries in Düsseldorf (and, where applicable, galleries in Cologne), internationally established artists will be selected whose work explores aspects of fashion and/or its production. At the same time, fashion designers will be invited to collaborate with the artists. The results of this collaboration will ultimately be presented in selected galleries in Düsseldorf. This will enable gallery artists to engage in dialogue with fashion designers and, through an interdisciplinary approach, to explore shared themes and issues. To realise the exhibitions, the galleries have a budget at their disposal which will be used on a project-by-project basis to cover the costs incurred by the collaborations. When selecting the designers, the gallery owner and the artist may be involved in the jury’s decision-making process to ensure the most fruitful collaboration possible.
