Abstract
The MBA/MAM Professional Practice programme includes a 12-month placement and is partially assessed by a research project which is informed by an aspect of the placement. Having worked closely with placement students as mentor and research project supervisor, it is clear there is much to learn from students’ experiences of working in and researching aspects of a real-world setting. In turn, this learning can be useful to develop the curriculum and support provided to future students.
My rumination is how an empirical study can be built into the placement module [PGBM165] with the two-fold intention of exemplifying a research-in-practice approach to students, as well as informing the future curriculum through evidence. I intend to present current thinking to generate discussion as to how future curricular can be informed by an on-going emergent action research approach into students’ authentic placement experiences.
