Abstract
Appreciating the range of experiences which our students have faced and could face helps us to consider how we can best support them within their academic journey. The BSc Nursing (Top Up) programme team have adopted a trauma informed philosophical basis for the future design and structuring of support within the programme considering the various traumas and experiences our students may have faced. This includes economic and political instability, conflict, and other physical and psychological trauma. This approach has allowed us to reflect upon which innovations may best support our students’ success and their mental health and wellbeing. Innovations within the programme such as the enhanced induction programme, disability, and wellbeing integration as well as engagement with study skills and English for Academic Purposes have been strategically designed to embed this philosophy.
