Abstract
In the MSc Nursing Programme, attainment scores averaged at 52.6 in 2021/2 and academic misconduct cases were 75 in 2021/2, therefore identifying academic issues which needed addressing. Through the process of action learning, the students and staff decided on a needs analysis so they could feedback concerns, which was carried out via Microsoft Forms to gather metrics. In total, 44 students responded, and concerns identified as their ability to think critically, write reflectively, and structuring evidence-based arguments with appropriate up to date literature. After data collection had concluded, bespoke academic materials were developed and changes to assessment guidance introduced to target these areas; the aim was to support students in improving attainment scores and decreasing the volume of academic misconduct cases. After materials were delivered to students, the intervention was evaluated, with attainment scores averaging at 58.5 in 2022/3 and academic misconduct cases at 1 in 2022/3, demonstrating improvement.
